What Is FINO Seppeltsfield?

FINO is the restaurant of chef David Swain and front-of-house partner Sharon Romeo. They opened the original Fino in Willunga, McLaren Vale, in 2006. In 2014 they were invited to bring Fino to the Seppeltsfield village in the Barossa Valley.

FINO Seppeltsfield sits next to the Seppeltsfield cellar door, overlooking the estate’s fountain. Head Chef Jackson Gloyne runs the kitchen and works with local producers on seasonal menus. The wine list covers the Barossa, South Australia and beyond. It also pours Seppeltsfield’s own still and fortified wines, with pairing options.

Seppeltsfield itself was established in 1851. Its 1878 Centennial Cellar is one of the estate’s best-known sights.

Don’t confuse FINO Seppeltsfield with Fino Vino. David and Sharon opened Fino Vino in the Adelaide CBD in 2019. It is a separate restaurant.

FINO’s MICHELIN Bib Gourmand

FINO Seppeltsfield received a Bib Gourmand in the first MICHELIN Guide for South Australia, announced on 14 October 2026. MICHELIN describes a Bib Gourmand as “good quality, good value cooking”. According to The Guardian, other South Australian Bib Gourmands include Africola, Bar Torino, Parwana Afghan Kitchen and the Salopian Inn. Fino Vino was listed as MICHELIN Selected.

Nearby Hentley Farm, also in Seppeltsfield, received One MICHELIN Star. See our Hentley Farm guide if you’re weighing up the two.

  • Groups: Parties of 8 or more choose the set menu.
  • Cakes: Order the Almond Vacherin 48 hours ahead.

Step 3: Decide Who Drives

  • Day transfer: From Adelaide, a return day transfer starts from $450.

Step 4: Book Transport for Your Sitting

  • Lunch window: FINO serves lunch from 12 to 3pm, so plan your pickup around it.
  • Lead time: Book at least 1–2 weeks ahead for weekends and special events.
  • Return trip: Book the ride home at the same time.

Step 5: Add Seppeltsfield or Other Cellar Doors

  • Seppeltsfield: The estate’s cellar door is next to FINO.
  • Signature Experience: Add the Centennial Cellar tour for $339pp, lunch included.
  • Wine tour: A private Barossa Valley wine tour can build a full day around lunch.
